Dear Whales,
Visiting Friday Harbor was great. It was a fun area to see. I thought The Whale Museum was interesting too. There were a few skeletons there, probably of your great-grandparents. The coolest part was the video display with recordings of you in your natural habitat. You know, I actually prefer seeing photos and footage other people have taken of you. I'm certain there is nothing majestic in seeing it firsthand.
I enjoyed lunch with my family and friends and didn't even think of how you were swimming out in the waters around me. When I gave $20 to the bus driver to take us to Whale Watch Park, it wasn't because I was told that you prefer the east side of the island where the salmon run. I really just wanted to cram into a stinky, hot bus and take a leisurely drive.
My family and I had a remarkable time at the park. Earl and the girls found a tide pool full of all sorts of critters. Annabelle even found a teeny tiny starfish.
I had my picture taken with my beautiful family. I didn't even mind that you and your family didn't want to be in it with us.
The kids all had a great time. Annabelle even informed me, "This is a great way to spend a day." So, see, there's no need for you to have any sort of guilt over taking a little vacay when my family and I were visiting. We will probably never have an opportunity to visit your home again, but hey, no harm done!
Sincerely,Lisa
