Party Wear

Today is the 100th day of school celebration. Annabelle's teacher sent home a letter last week asking the children to wear 100 of something and suggested a simple necklace of 100 Fruit Loops. Ha! No surprise here, but simple isn't really my style. Here's what we came up with.

I have to say it: She's cute as a BUTTON!

Let's Get Crafty!

This year I will be more crafty, will you?

I WILL make felt barrettes and fabric coasters. I WILL redo my bedroom decor and make a super cute tie pillow and a gathered ruffle pillow will need to find a home somewhere in my house. I WILL find a need for a fabric basket, because it's just too cute not to. If I can convince Earl that I'm not buying fabric to make a "purse" (since he will certainly protest my need for another) I will try my hand at a this one-hour bag.
If I really get on the ball, MAYBE I'll make egg garland in time for Easter and PERHAPS the girls will get glove bunnies.
If I come across a cute scarf I will DEFINITELY re-purpose it into a baby hat and a scarf owl . PERHAPS I will even re-purpose a sweater into an adorable sweater dress for one of my girls.
MAYBE I will make a felt Mr. Potato Head and if things go well with that a black apple doll. IF after those I am really good at my toy making skills I would love to try my hand at a plush robot.
I WILL make myself a pretty new hanger for my temple clothes. MAYBE I will need a new scarf as well...I WILL make a tissue box cover so I can keep tissue out in my living room and not cringe when I see them. I WILL find a light switch cover or two that I can spruce up. I will THINK about making a table cloth, but probably won't, PERHAPS I can just incorporate the funky flowers into another project...
I DEFINITELY will find a project to make fabric yoyos. I will THINK about making a cute belt for my girls, maybe I will, maybe I won't. MAYBE if I don't make the belt I will find an old shirt in good condition and make it into a dress. IF I make the dress, SURELY I will make some shoes to go with it.
I WILL salivate over a felt playhouse, but will NEVER attempt it. MAYBE if the urges get too strong, I'll settle for a playtable cover.
I will THINK about making baby legs and bibs and will HOPE for a need to make baby food treats. Anyone having a baby shower? They are so cute, they ALMOST make me want to have a baby soon, so I can make them for myself. And if I do nothing else this year, I WILL decoupage my barn star that I've had for 3 years and never done a thing with!

Want to get crafty with me?

MY BEST FRIEND!

Hello all, this is Jen. I am Lisa's best friend. I was just thinking of her today and how much I miss spending time with her. I decided that I would hack her account and tell all of you how amazing her and Earl are. Although we have amazing friends here in Washington, NO ONE could take the place of our Bennett's! We miss them every day! Lisa and Earl are pretty much the greatest friends we have ever had. We could laugh with them and cry with them and pretty much have fun with them doing even the lamest things. The first time we hung out with the Bennett's we knew it was meant to be! We had so much fun that night and the date nights got even funner as we grew as friends. To me they aren't even friends anymore they are family. We miss them all the time. I find myself still picking up my phone to ask Lisa to go with me to Joanns or to see if Earl wants to have a guy night with Kevin. Then I realize that they are thousands of miles away and I get sad. We miss the girls so much too. They were such a huge part of our life that I miss having Emmy ring the door bell over and over and Annabelle saying her sweet dinner prayers and Molly screaming at Clark for touching her. Bennett Family we miss you and LOVE you so much. We can't wait to get our bills taken care of so we can come and stay with you. Expect us sooner rather than later!

Sayonara

So long, farewell

Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight

I hate to go and leave this pretty sight

So long, farewell

Auf Wiedersehen, adieu

Adieu, adieu

To you and you and you

Last week we couldn't find Molly's pacifier when it came time for bed. This is a usual occurrence. I sat her in her crib and proceeded to look underneath it and then in all the usual hiding spots. She waited patiently. It was nowhere to be found. Earl got in on the hunt followed by Annabelle and Emily getting out of their beds to look for it. We scavenged the whole house for one and came up empty-handed. I looked at Molly and told her, "So sorry, but we can't find one, It's lost." She seemed to really understand that we put our heart and soul into the search and she wasn't upset with us. I laid her down and she pointed to her mouth and I simply reminded her that we couldn't find it and she didn't fuss. I turned out the light and left the room and she never made a peep!
So there ya go, no more pacifier--Eight days and counting!

Why can't all parenting dilemmas be solved so easily?

A Birthday--Mythbusters Style

When your birthday falls seven days after Christmas you often get "the shaft," as Earl calls it. I can see why he's mother struggled for 20 years, because I too find it hard to think of additional things to get him aside from his Christmas gifts and even harder to find the money to get anything additional since there isn't a paycheck between Christmas and New Year's. That being said, let's not judge me for spending only $5 on my husband's birthday, allright?

I came across his present late one night while I was finishing up Christmas shopping. I laughed to myself and pulled out my phone to take a picture of it to send Earl and thought, What am I doing? I should really just get this for his birthday. So I did. I mentioned it to my sister and she jumped on board to have a mini-themed birthday.

Earl likes the show Mythbusters and I must say that there probably aren't many episodes that I haven't watched with him. So that's why when I saw this Mentos Geyser Tube I had to have it.

My sister's contribution was this cool shirt:

I so wish that you could see in the video the full extent of this experiment. The trees in the back make it difficult to see. This Diet Coke geyser came hilariously close to us and we were not expecting it. Enjoy it anyways--listening to my sister and me snort and laugh should be entertainment enough. On a side note, I couldn't convince Earl to put real pants on for this video--he was having an extremely lazy birthday--I think he got off the couch twice in seven hours. But, hey, maybe I will feel the same why when I'm as old as him!
